[tri-med] Re: Doctor's Request-please respond

I've been a big lurker lately but I saw your email and I thought I should
respond. I had the same problem with my doctor when my daughter was only
four months old. She had a fever on and off for 6 days (it would usually go
away in the morning and come back late in the day), she was coughing and
vomiting. He told me he thought it was because of the trisomy. I am an
immunologist so I believe that fever is a sign of infection. We ended up
just taking her to the emergency room where we found out that she had
pneumonia and RSV. We now have a different doctor who doesn't hesitate to
run tests. I think your doctor should do a CBC with a differential. This
will tell him if it is an infection and if it is bacterial or viral. I don't
understand why to wait.
I hope Brianna feels better,

Subject: [tri-med] Doctor's Request-please respond

Hello,

Brianna's doctor has asked that I write to our support groups to see if any
other children with Trisomy have gone through what Brianna is currently.

Last Friday, 8 days ago, Brianna came down with a fever. Her fever has run
from 97 degrees to 105.2 degrees. Up and down, constantly throughout the
whole week. She has been vomiting,
had diarrhea,
had a barking-like cough
and been very tired...and of course cranky!

The doctor has been teetering between, "Wait and see if it is a virus," "Is
this because of her Trisomy?" and "Should we admit her for testing"?

My question is, what does her Trisomy have to do with up/down by the hour
temps?

Oh yeah, the doctor also says that a temp that stays elevated is not as
concerning as one that is so sporadic

I will be looking forward to any responses. Thanks, as always, YOU GUYS ARE
GREAT!
