Penny called me tonight. Here's the scoop.
First off, Glenda: Penny would like you to call her so you can update the other
list. Also, ANYONE who would like Penny's cell number or hospital room/room
number can e-mail me OFF LIST at jwaite@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and I'll send them to
you.
Soooooooo........They don't know why Devon has the pancreatitis but think it
may be related to the gall bladder being full of sludge (seen on ultrasound)
slowing the emptying of the pancreas.
Devon is pretty much sleeping all the time between bouts of throwing up.
However, this afternoon he's been the best he's been so far.
He's receiving IV fluids, no food/liquids at all and antibiotics. Until the lab
work shows his enzymes are normal they won't even begin to introduce clear
liquids.
Devon isn't even fighting the IV (using an IV board and a posey wrap).
Penny was worried that the vomiting could affect his eye but has been told it
looks good.
Penny has been there 24/day since Sunday. Joe is up there everyday. Penny
refuses to go home so sends Joe home nightly to hold down the fort and spend
time with Nick.
Joe would like to stay but Penny can't make herself leave so she stays. She's
exhausted and scared but feeling a bit better today because Devon has been a
bit better this afternoon. So she's hanging in there.
So, anyone who would like her contact info just e-mail me off list and I'll
send it to you.
