{news story that I'd heard several months ago about long term reflux medication
users being at a greater risk for osteoporosis.}
I think I heard that too. Nicholas had a fundo after being on Prilosec for
only a few months and has never taken a reflux med since the surgery. Also, I
had his neurologist look into his seizure meds as a cause, but she consulted a
pediatric neurologist that specializes in this area and looked at Nick's case
and said none of the seizure meds would have caused it either.
Dr. Carey consulted a doctor in Utah about his fractures and he thought it was
from being non-ambulatory, but I think it has more to do with his syndrome.
Nick's bones are extremely thin and porous. I've asked other parents with
older T-13's and their children have fractured also, but usually the
arm/shoulder areas. I don't know of any other T-13 that has fractured as much
as Nicholas, but they could be out there.
