Some of you will remember last year that a company donated a laptop computer to
Alex so that he could do his school work on it when he was sick. Its been great
and he loves it (too much so for those people he gets on line and chats with -
or is that annoys)
Anyway the donation was done under a scheme of refurbishment. One of our larger
banks (Westpac) donates their old computers and some cash for computer
companies to refurbish them and donate them to kids who need them - eg kids
with disabilities.
Alex and I have been invited to speak with Westpac about continuing and
expanding the program, obviously the whole idea is to tell them how it has
benifited Alex. I have no problem with this and quite apart from speaking I
would love to put together a paper/submission on the benefits of computers to
people like us - the rare rares and isolated folk of the community and how it
benefits our kids directy and indirectly.
Could I ask your help and get a few lines on how helpful the computer has been
for you and your child / children in dealing with trisomy and or disability?
For those as old as me I would love a few lines on the differences between pre
net days and post net days - how things have changed, how its changed things
for you.........
The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved.
