My daughter, Rachel, is learning to make choices using a TechTalk 8 (8 picture cells) augmentative communication device. Currently, we only use two pictures so Rachel can learn to make a choice between two items. It's a start! At school, she also uses a Big Red switch for repetitive things like the common phrase in a book (e.g. "no more monkeys jumping on the bed!") or when she is supposed to shout out her name during a group song or something. Oh, and switches are used at the computer when they need to navigate through an easy program. Basically, Rachel hits the switch to advance to the next picture or to activate the program for the next response. Feel free to email me off-list if you need more information.
