[tri-med] Re: (Christopher G) growth ... problem

Sharon,
No, he didn't have that. He just had slow growth. He needed a high calorie
"shake"* to help him gain any weight. He liked smashed avocados and buttered
mashed potatoes- the kind of food that would stick to our bellies & hips is
what he had to have to gain weight.
*breast milk** with powdered infant formula and olive oil added to it.
**He couldn't breast feed so I used an electric breast pump for the whole
time he was living.
Thanks for the condolences. I'ts one of those things you just don't think
you could ever deal with or be able to handle until you actually go through the
death of a child. I never would have imagined what we have gone through. It
just goes to show you that God does know what each of us is able to endure with
His help. It sure makes me have more empathy for others with a disabled child
and those who have had their child die. Since Christopher's death, I have even
written poems for others.
Love,
~Kandy

Yes, once I randomly asked someone in a store how old they thought
Christopher was (he was at the time 8 or 9 months old I think). They said they
thought
he was 2 or 3 months old. He was small and never quite got to be 11 pounds.
When he died, at almost a year, he was under 10 pounds again. He did slowly
gain a small amount of head circumference and he got longer, but had a very
hard time gaining the weight.
