I used to put the food in her mouth, put some in my mouth, and then
say "chew with those teeth", and move closer to show her how I chew
with my teeth. She did understand what her teeth were. She will chew
on home made brown bread and honey. Most of her food is ground up
now, but she will chew on crispy snacks such as cheese rings (don't
know their name in the US). She will sometimes hold the food in her
mouth until it goes soft. That's why I would remind her to "chew".
