[tri-med] Re: Caroline update

Caroline is much better.  We have no idea what caused the ulcer.  It is not
h-pylori, which causes at least 95% of all ulcers.  So, it could be stress,
smoking, alcohol, NSAIDS.  Since she rarely takes Motrin, it must be her
smoking and drinking!   HAHA!  We are completely stumped.  And it is a good
sized ulcer too!   And she has been taking an adult dose of Prevacid for 2
years now, so how much acid could her little tummy be producing?
I questioned whether her h-pylori test was wrong, but they claimed they used
the "gold standard" of tests.

She hasn't thrown up anything for over a week now.  I am keeping her
feedings at a slower rate to make sure she doesn't.  I am thinking that the
less she throws up, the less stress, the less chance of re-aggravating the
ulcer.  She is on a double adult size Prevacid dose (60 mg) along with
Carafate.

I have done a ton of research, I can't find one single "rare" possible cause
of this ulcer.  If anyone happens to know of one, I would LOVE to hear it!

I actually wrote a long response to your update email, but got sidetracked.
I am sorry for how you feel, but please don't feel you are the only one.  I
will raise my hand as one who has had the same sad thoughts.
