Tonight I thought my heart would break in two! I was watching the Dateline
special on Medical Miracles and one was about a couple who had a baby to
save the life of their 1st child. At the end of the show the little girl
was playing with her baby brother who had saved her life and Caitlyn said to
me, "Will I ever be able to play with Meredith like that? Riding bicycles
and playing outside?" I almost cried! We only decided to have a second
child because Cait was so adamant about wanting a sister. She was so
excited at the ultrasound when she found out for sure that it was a girl.
Then Cait asked if Meredith could go for a ride on her motorcycle (she just
got the pink and purple Harley Davidson motorized bike for her birthday)? I
thought, "well, why the hell not!" So I strapped the snugli on Caitlyn and
put Meredith in it and off they went on the motorcycle! Lucky for us we
live on a cul-de-sac so they had plenty of space to ride. Meredith really
seemed to enjoy it! Although I know most parents who saw it would probably
run to call Child Protective Services on me! My friend who has a 4 month
old had to pick her jaw up off the floor the other day when I let Cait pick
Meredith up off the floor! So my husband and I are standing in the
cul-de-sac watching them ride around in a circle when Cait rides up and
says,"This is what I was dreaming of! I wanted a motorcycle so I could take
Meredith for a ride and she could do something fun!" What wisdom from a 5
year old!
Sorry, if you're having to wipe away a tear or two!
Cindy
Mom to Meredith 14months, PT 18q, and Caitlyn 5 years and as sweet and
caring as the day is long!
