[tri-med] Re: Brain scan

When my son went for an MRI the consultant anesthetist
would not put him under as she said she had worked
with two kids with a missing corpuss callossum in the
past and siad she had had problems with them while
under general anesthetic. In the end my partner and I
had to crawl up the MRI tunnel with our son and try to
calm him and hold him still. The eventual scan was
rather fuzzy but they could still see that the corpus
callossum was missing.
What this anesthetist said to me stuck in my head and
when it came for my son to have an operation 3 months
ago I was so worried and I repeated this to his
surgeon and the new anesthetist. As it was the
anesthetist came to see me after my sons op and said
that there was no problem at all and that the other
anesthetist was probably not a paedeatric anesthetist
and that if I ever had any problems like that again
then to bring my son back to him and he would give him
a general anesthetic any time.
So yes every child is different but also using a
doctor that is a paediatric doctor is helpfull.
