[tri-med] Re: Blood Donation

Laurie:

I haven't dealt with that personally but I believe that if we
knew that Krissy was going to need blood that one of us would do
it.

I'm sure things are fine these days with donated blood - most of
the time - but to me that is a scary option. Sometimes we don't
have a choice or advance warning but when we do it sure feels
better to me to take care of it myself...

All the best,
Terre

Subject: [tri-med] Blood Donation

Well, here we go. Brianna had her pre-op yesterday for her BIG
surgery. She=20
will have 2 rods fused into her spine on April 23rd. After
speaking with the=20
anesthesiologist, he strongly recommends Brianna NOT donating her
own blood. He=20
says that would deplete her iron too drastically and she'd need
to come in for=20
shots 3X a week before surgery to try to bring it back up. He
said that there=20
is no reason not to use donor blood these days. I still feel like
if Bri does=20
not bank her own blood that my husband or myself should donate
it?=20
.......anyone else dealt with this issue? Thanks..
Laurie
