[tri-med] Re: Blood Donation

Laurie, Blood is usually screened at least 2 times before it is used in 
transfusions.  First when it is donated the donor is asked a multitude of 
questions to see if the blood is safe to even accept.  Then it is tested to 
make sure that it safe to be transfused into another person.  That said it 
is still safer for family members to donate to their family members.  But 
they also have to meet the requirements on health issues.  There are some 
medications that preclude blood donations, as well as some illnesses.
