Rebecca had a stander when she was younger and I believe it was called a
spina bifida perapodium? It was custom made and very basic. If I can
describe it, it was a u shaped tubing attached to a base ( open end down)
with ethafoam supports for her knees and straps across her feet knees and
chest. We would just lay the thing on the floor lay her in it, strap her in
and stand her up. We had two of this stander due to growth. When she
became to big for this type of stander we went to a walker, my reasoning was
that she could stand in a walker but not walk in a stander. ( not that she
ever really walked far) so she had two different walkers, the hoopula which
we didn't like and then the pony which we did like. Now we have gone back
to the stander as She was not really weight bearing in the walker and not
walking either. We have a supine stander. We love it, it has a tray and is
fairly easy to put her into it.
