Hi Catherine :o)
Here's some more thinking out loud...
I have been having A LOT of headaches (just about daily) and A LOT of neck
pain in the past several months...so much so that sometimes I just can't
hold my own head up any longer :o( I've been using Advil in the RX strength
which is like 3 or 4 at a time. I got a "birthday letter" from our
chiropractor telling me I can get a free adjustment. I haven't been back to
him since April over a year ago because I was going more than I could afford
and the pretzel move just about put me through the ceiling every time and it
just wasn't getting better. My BP also started being very high after I hurt
my back 2 years ago after the hurricanes. It has been as high as 170/105
(that was right before the RFL procedure I had...and it hurt even more than
I thought it would) :o( I was on Atenolol and am now switched to
Plendil...it's not great yet...but at least it's stable. BUT here's the
thing about the chiropractor. They now have a thing called a ProAdjustor.
They run a wand (like an US wand) all the way from the base of your skull to
the sacral area. It puts out a color print out of your spine...there are
color bars along each vertebrae...green is normal, yellow means mild
pain/problem, orange means moderate pain/problem and red means severe
pain/problem. They then get you to sit on a special chair type thing and
you rest your face into this cushion with a cut out so you can breath. They
have the same pic of your spine to go by in the computer. They then take
this little hand held thing that just fits right over each vertebrae...reads
it and tells how many little taps it needs to get it back where it belongs.
It doesn't hurt...though it is a bit noisy....and after it started and I saw
it wasn't going to hurt like a regular adjustment has been...I was actually
able to relax...which helps the procedure help a person much more. He does
this with every vertebrae and at the base of skull around to each ear and
even up the back of your head. When Dr Hayman saw my scan he said, "you've
been having a lot of headaches and neck pain haven't you?". I was
like..."uh....yeah...but how do you know that?". I had to turn my head as he
tapped down my neck and across to each shoulder. When he's done tapping...or
bapping as I called it because that's how it sounds...it shows him the
picture with the color bars and color curves...he's explaining everything
the whole way through. I was in much better shape when I left but it will
take a few more sessions to get me where I need to be to have lots less
pain. Many of the bars in my neck that were red and long are now green and
short or green and medium to long...ideally they should all be green and
short. The good news is that the last time I was there...they didn't yet
have the Pro Adjuster (the Bapper) at that time...my low back/sacral area
the bars were orange and red...this time they're green and yellow with a
couple oranges :o) I think that means that the walking 5 mornings a week
with Joe and the weight I've been losing a little at a time are all helping
me??? I KNOW that neck problems can cause head and neck pain...and maybe
even face pain in all kinds of ways I would never think of...maybe you could
take Bec to a chiropractor in your area who perhaps has a pro adjustor???
It's not invasive and doesn't hurt...although it might take some getting
used to the bapping and noise???
Just a thought...
