[tri-med] Re: Bathing and traveling (bed)

Hi Deb!
Caroline is very long and, although she physically can sit on her own, she
absolutely refuses to! She will push back onto her back every time.
Luckily, she always holds up her head so she never strikes her head.

We used to use a VERY old baby seat that we took the cushion out of. We put
it in the tub. Caroline's head fit perfectly under the faucet to rinse.
And she LOVED having the warm water running over her head!!!

She has since gotten too wiggly and scootches out of the seat. We now just
put a rubber bath mat down on the tub and fill the tub only a couple
inches. We just lay her down in the tub. She always holds up her head, but
if she puts it down, the water is shallow enough that it doesn't run over
her face at all. Of course, I am right there at all times in case she trys
something crazy!!

I just keep a cup by the tub and keep pouring warm water over her to wash
her and keep her comfy. It works out well. She doesn't move a lot because
of the rubber mat (other than kicking like crazy and laughing about it!) and
we don't need extra equipment in our small bathroom. HOWEVER, she is
getting heavier and I am scared that soon it will be a bit hard lifting her
into and out of the tub. Oh well - I guess we will figure out what to do
about that problem when the time comes!

Good luck!!

Irene
