That would be me :o) AND...if the parent is a balanced translocation carrier 
as I am...it can also result in a child who also has a balanced 
translocation PLUS a 3rd copy of said chromosome...as Devon does...hence his 
dx...Full Trisomy 13 w/BALANCED translocation 5 and 13. It's evidently not 
that common since I have yet to meet or hear about another child with a 
balanced translocation + a full 3rd copy...but it CAN be done :o) If the 
parent is a carrier they can also have a child who is also a carrier...but 
does not have the 3rd copy of the chromosome affected. That would mean that 
they themselves would not have trisomy but they would run a higher risk of 
having an affected child.
