The clue in this case is the mosaic feature of the diagnosis.
A balanced translocation can't produce a mosaic trisomy.
Mosaic ALWAYS happens after the fact. So the only way
that Justin's mosaic PT1p could have been inherited from
a balanced translocation, is if it started out as just the
trisomy line, and then later developed a normal line. Odds
of that happening are extremely small. And Justin's grandma
has mentioned previously that the ob/gyn feels that there's no
need to see a genetic councellor.
