Inquiry into the Disability Discrimination Act 1992
 
The Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992 aims to eliminate
discrimination against people with disabilities. It also aims to create
equality before the law for people with disabilities and to encourage
acceptance and recognition of the rights of people with disabilities.
 
 
The Commonwealth Government has asked the Productivity Commission (the
commission) to look at how well the Act is working. The Commission, an
independent government body, undertakes economic & social research &
inquiries & provides advice to the Government.
 
The Commission wants to know what you think about the Disability
Discrimination Act & how its working. This can be done by making a
submission to the inquiry. Your submission does not need to be long or
formal. 
 
If you want to know more about the inquiry, you can read the issues
paper that is on the Commission's web site or you can contact them to
obtain a copy. You can also contact them if you have any questions about
the inquiry or you need inquiry material in alternative formats.
