[tri-med] Anyone have any insight or advice???

Thanks to everyone for your input on the GHT. My main concern is not making
Meredith grow really...I'm only 5'2" and I'm taller than all but one of my 7
sisters, most of them are in the 4'10" range so it's not like her being
short would be out of the norm in my family...but I have heard that GHT will
help with muscle development and some think it helps with cognitive ability.
I think that may be due to the fact that if it helps a child become more
mobile they have a chance to explore and learn more. I'm not interested in
doing the GHT if it's just going to give her a bigger body that she still
can't do anything with...it's easier on me with a small body!

Thanks Holly for the reminder about Wilm's tumor. I talked to the doctor
about that too the other day. We do the renal U/S every six months, but I
have to remind the doctor WHY we need to do a renal U/S. So far Meredith
hasn't had any renal issues.

Aside from the PDA, slight strabismus, and hearing deficit she doesn't seem
to have any other physical abnormalities. Which I'm thankful for, but also
befuddled by! If she has such minor physical problems why isn't she doing
as well developmentally as some of your children who are full T18 and who
have much worse problems??? She hasn't been fed by anything other than a
bottle since we brought her home, her appetite is good, she was only sick 3
or 4 times this past year and I'm at home with her and spend most of my day
playing with her and trying to stimulate her. Yesterday I went so far as to
go into the attic to get Christmas lights to put on her crib because I
thought it would be visually stimulating for her...no small feat when you
live in Texas where yesterday the high was 105 degrees F and probably 205 in
the attic! She can roll from back to side, but doesn't do it often. She
will eat some from a spoon, but usually only a few bites, and she still
doesn't hold her head up for more than a few seconds when she's on her
stomach. Am I expecting too much too soon? I'd just like for her to be
rolling all the way over right now...I'm not asking her to start riding a
bicycle! I just feel like at the rate we're going she's never going to gain
any form of mobility....and I just refuse to accept that she will never
walk...it may be when she's 30 and I'm 60 but someday.

I guess what I really want to ask everyone is was your child a big ol' lump
up to a certain age and then just started to blossom? I mean Meredith is 14
months old and her developmental assesment said she was 2-3 months so does
that mean that when she's 28 months she'll be 4-6 months and at 42 months
she'll be 6-9 months or do they get to a certain age and kind of have a
developmental spurt?
