not really a stutter but she does repeat whole words over and over...i
linked this more to the preseverance.....and, well here comes a little guilt
that I carry....do I always give my absolute concentration when she speaks?
no, and so I feel a little guilty that she has had to learn to repeat :( oh
dear may its more than a little guilt.

Alex still does this on occasion but his tend to be opposites eg he might
mean in but he will say out. For example he came up to me last night and
said that we had too much food for Kitty and I needed to go and get some -
what he meant to say was that we had run out of cat food. Its fine because I
am aware but it can cause problems with people who don't know Alex. Its also
hurting peer relationships. The other thing that he still has great
difficulty with is word tenses. He knows which tense is which, especially
for written things but often uses the wrong one when speaking.
At the moment we are trying a remedy with writing things down. The hope is
that if he can speed up his written word and get it more fluid then
hopefully it will carry over to his speech. He is really quite good at
writing a sentence when he puts his mind to it, but he hates writing. (Alex
also has limb dyspraxia so he has to overcome that with writing)
Did Becky develop a stutter when she was younger? That was one thing that I
forgot to mention to Gary. When Alex was about 6 or 7 he also developed a
stutter. It was essentially a transient stutter because it really was a case
that is brain was working too fast for his mouth. He had the words in his
head and he was trying so hard to say them but the dyspraxia got in the way.
It faded after about 6 months when his speech became more fluid and caught
up a little more with his thoughts.
