[tri-med] Re: Annie in the Canadian Medical Association Journal

Hi Barb. I read the article and thought wow, is this what the world is coming
to? Personally, we found out about Candace through CVS. I chose to do this
because when we had Cayden (full Trisomy 18), we were so NOT prepared for
anything. Unfortunately I found this list too late. So with Candace we wanted
to know what, if any, chromosomal abnormality there was and what we needed to
prepare for it. We found out about her chromosomes but they couldn't tell us
anything at all except they didn't think she would die. What a help. I am all
for finding out before birth about any issues that there may be to prepare for
them (or at least try to prepare). I am not happy with people abusing this
testing to make sure they get a genetically perfect child. I couldn't imagine
life without Candace. She has bettered the lives of many people. There are no
guarantees in life, especially when giving birth. I'm glad you keep speaking
up. I speak of you often to my family about the touring and education you do.
Thanks.

Kim, wife to Kerry (complex balanced translocation between the 9, 15, and 18th
chromosomes), mom to Cameron, age 10 (same chromosomes as dad), Cayden, T18
(12-16-02 to 1-16-03), and Candace, age 3 (Partial Trisomy 18 and 15)
