Kristen,
You can now have initial results within 24 - 48 hours though you still have to 
wait the two weeks for the full results.
If you request it they can do a "rapid" FISH test on the amniotic fluid for the 
"common" trisomies - 13, 18, 21 and also Turners
Syndrome. The preliminary results are available within 24 to 48 hours though 
you need to wait the full 2 weeks for them to be
confirmed and to see if there are any major problems with the other 
chromosomes.........
