I can understand your not wanting to let Alex go, but be happy you

Thanks Ruth! Alex is a wonderful kid. It's so amazing to me the things he
CAN do given the trisomy prognosis oh so many years ago. The last time we
saw the geneticist he was just amazed at what Alex was doing.......it was so
unexpected in his 'experience'.

A few years ago Jim said to me "We have to let Alex go and experience life.
What's the point of his living if it's not to the fullest of his ability?
The same can be said for anyone but we can't baby him and have to let him
spread his wings".

Letting go is so much harder than I ever expected back when we were talking
about starting a family. Guess it's just another aspect of parenting that
you just don't 'get' until you experience it. You sure don't see it when you
are a child/teen and YOUR parents are going through it! lol
