[tri-med] Alex examples

Often it's hard for me to come up with examples of Alex being "off"
(compared to typical) and in the past 24 hrs has done good examples twice.

On TLC (the learning channel) there was a commercial for a show called "What
not to wear". There were cardboard life size pictures of people in "bad"
outfits on NYC streets and some fashion experts were hauling them away. Next
we see the cutout people wearing fashionable clothing. Alex said, "I wonder
how they changed the clothes on the cardboard." I asked him what ideas he
had for that. He thought that maybe they 1) painted on the new clothes or 2)
cut the clothes off and put on new. Jim then asked Alex if perhaps they
could have taken new pics of the models in new clothes and Alex said,
"Maybe".

Today we worked a shift in a beverage concession at the local Renaissance
Festival for the soccer boosters as a fund raiser. Each player (and the team
manager!) had to work 4 shifts. Since our family of 4 worked a shift that
covered Alex's obligations.
After our shift was done we wandered the festival (since we didn't have to
pay to get in!). We were watching some sword jugglers and they had a toy
skunk and sprayed part of the audience. I leaned into Alex and said
"Pewwwwww.....aren't you glad we weren't over there?" and he seriously
replied "Maybe it wasn't actually skunk smell Mom, it might be water".

These are things that really indicate to me how much of a struggle school is
for Alex........the common sense/life experience skills remain lacking. Most
children of the age of 6 would have known the correct answers to both those
situations.

Just thought I'd throw out these recent examples for folks to maybe "get"
where Alex is. Or isn't.

I think that as a result Alex has some superior coping skills and is very
adept at camouflage to slide under radar (like laughing at jokes he doesn't
under stand).
