I just replied to this subject, but I forgot some stuff : ) I was given the
option of having tubes place in my tear ducts to keep them open. At this
point, I' m just sticking to massage and Restasis drops.

We do not have experience with our Trisomy child, but my husband
Frank gets his cleared out by his ophthalmologist, who uses tiny hair
like wires to do the initial treatment. Frank says this is not
painful, she is very skilled, but she tells him to gently massage the
inside corners of his eyes in a circular motion for the rest of the
time. He finds the dry eyes so VERY irritating. Of course the wire
treatment should only be done by an ophthalmologist who knows exactly
what they are doing.
I just went out and asked Frank did he find it helped much with the
massaging, he said it did "when I remember to do it". She also
prescribed drops to lubricate the eyes. They help too when he
remembers to put them in (smile).
