If the AFO is generally the right size they can heat up old AFO's and 
remould them but as I said in my previous email there is a limited number of 
times that you can do that. We were taught three times but it really depends 
on the thermoplastic used eg sansplint is much more forgiving than 
aquaplast, but aquaplast is cheaper and from what I have seen thats what 
most of the AFO's in the US are made from.
Any thermoplastic with holes in it (for aeration used with folk who sweat a 
lot or for orthotics used on body parts prone to sweating) cant as a rule be 
reused. (and thats why orthotists dont like it - you get one chance and 
thats it). Whereas with the other thermoplastics if you make a mistake you 
simply throw the whole thing back in the warm water bath and start again.
