[tri-med] Re: 02 stats dropping---

I have wondered if a BiPap would be more helpful for Bec.....it seems down
right silly to when I put her to bed and put the pulse oximeter on her and
she reads 98%! to put the Cpap on her. Then just twenty minutes later and
not even off to sleep she can hit the 70s!.....now I wait till she starts to
desat before I put the mask on her. Some nights she can sleep for several
hours and stay in the 90s....other nights it is 6-12 turns, hourly, which
she seems to slumber through peacefully.

You could probably just cut and paste for Alex with this. Alex's sats and
heart rate decrease dramatically when he lies on his left side. Why no-one
can say with any certainty but one thought is that his vagal nerve is
running a different course to normal and when he lies on his left side body
organs are compressing the nerve?

Bi-PAP compensates because it covers both central and obstructive apneas.
But primarily, no matter what the reason we have primarily "learnt" to
monitor and toss him off his side when it happens. I just cant wait till
someone develops a machine that not only monitors but gives him a shake and
rolls him over for me :-) putting the oxygen or Bi-PAP on and fixing clogged
feeding pumps as well would be a total bonus :-))))
