[tri-family] Re: Jude

Jude and Deanna :o)
While I haven't been on a cruise to Alaska...we DID live there for about a
year before we moved to Florida :o) Alaska is BEAUTIFUL...MAGNIFICENT!!!!
Joe and I didn't stay there because #1 we were too cut off from our families
(that point was really driven home when Joe's dad had a heart attack and we
couldn't afford a plane ticket to get there) #2 the job situation was not
good #3 the cost of living was very high partially because so much has to be
imported. The entire time we lived there, we never tired of seeing snow
capped mountains where ever we looked...it's breath taking! We saw so much
beautiful wild life it was awesome...wasn't uncommon for me to look up from
my desk at work and see a momma moose with twin babies across the street in
the field. Nor was it uncommon for them to be seen in downtown Anchorage :o)
Mountain Goats and Dahl Sheep abound as well and the King Salmon fishing was
the best ever...you haven't lived until you've caught a big ol' King!!!! I
caught a 36lber and I'll never forget the adrenaline rush and
excitement...and boy oh boy was he yummy!!!!

The weather in Anchorage is beautiful...70's up to 82 degrees was what we
experienced in the summer. Snow in the winter but not near as bad as when we
grew up in Ohio! The further north you go the more extreme the temps of
course....but still...I wouldn't have ever wanted to miss that whole
experience! Joe and I always say if we lived in our own perfect world we
would live in Alaska in the summers and Florida in the winters :o)

I'm jealous...need anyone to carry your luggage???

Hey! If you visit the Diamond Mall on Diamond Blvd...I worked at a small
print shop (not in the mall) there that has since gone under...but it was
right next to a great little specialty shop called Pia's Norse Wear...she
had the neatest stuff :o) And you haven't lived until you have your very own
one of a kind moose nugget keychain or some other treasure made from moose
nuggets :o) Hematite jewelry and jade are everywhere and protect yourselves
from the mosquitos if it's the season for them...they don't call them the
state bird for nothing!!! When Joe and I would go camping we could hear them
coming across the lake and they sound like a fleet of Huey Helicoptors!!!
And that's with snow patches still on the ground! We lived in apartments on
Mockingbird lane (back then they were 695$ a month for a 600 sq ft 1 bedroom
apartment) :o) We also lived in an efficiency apartment for 425$ for our
last month or 2 before we moved :o)

OH! And Portage Glacier is and amazing sight as is the Bird Bar :o) The Bird
bar was a little Bar that from the outside looks like a giant rustic
birdhouse with a big Blue bird perched in front on it :o) It sits on an
angle so ya can't let go of your glass and it's tradition to leave something
of yourself there pinned to the ceiling or wall or floors...underwear, bras,
pictures...and uh...other interesting things (anything you can think of)
are everywhere :o) We had a friend named Ky who lived in a little cabin. He
had no indoor plumbing (a water pump over a sink in the kitchen)...out house
had to be dug every few months, he showered at the YMCA or at friends houses
when necessary, he cooked on a wood stove/oven kind of thing, and the cabin
was built before the big earth quake in the early 1900's (if memory serves)
and half of it sat about a foot lower than the other (looked like a step
down done on purpose) because of the quake :o)

I want to see pictures and more pictures when you return :o)
