During the year we support the Sierra Club and Clean Water Action (both
environmental charities).
We also buy from Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts when they are fundraising.
When the K of C is collecting, or the other established organizations are
having their drives to collect donations, we'll toss money into the
container.

This time of year each of the kids has an 'adopted family' that one of their
classes is taking care of for Christmas. We'll donate items/money for each
of those as well as dropping money into the Salvation Army pot.
Both kids also participated in food drives for Thanksgiving and a charity
drive for Hurricane Relief.
We've always donated a few items to "Toys for Tots" too.

I used to collect for the March of Dimes until the year a couple of people
got in my face because the organization supports Pro Choice and they scared
me--literally. :0(
These days most of my volunteering is in the school district to benefit the
students, not 'charities'.

We also help out my brother with gifts for his girls because he is unable to
do it on his own.
