        War: Truth and Lies
_/__/__/__/__/__/__/__/_/__/__/__/

Hello from New York. We are only in English this time because
we are coming to you from the U.S. where there is
no Japanese-capable computer.

So far we have visted Boston, where we participated in 4 separate
anti-war actions, one a very large demonstration that ended
up marching unofficially for 3 hours after the official march. The
police, 30% of whom are said to themselves oppose the war, were generally
cooperative, unlike in San Francisco where 2000 people were arrested.

One of the shocks on this trip was to note how much WORSE
CNN is in the States than it is in Japan. Here they were
unashamedly cheerleading for Bush and his war. It made
me understand how fortunate we are to have a fairly
healthly independent media here (ZNet, and so many other
sites yet sad that in Japan there is still not yet very
much in Japanese on Japan itself. This issue
is dedicated, then, to the recent birth of JAPAN INDYMEDIA,
which is one small step in filling that need. Please visit the
Japan IndyMedia site and contribute to both it AND TokyoProgressive.
