[tokyoprogressive] Explanation: "Welcome Message" from tokyoprogressive.org/ChocoPaulNews

Hi.  you probably recently received a message from tokyoprogressive
(freelists.org) welcoming you.  The reason for this is that we have had
many problems with the previous hosts --topica.com--in that they sent
out advertising to people without their requesting it.  It seems that
this feature can turned off, but they did not make that clear when
we first started. Please see below for more on that.

The new system allows you to control subscriptions and subscriptions
yourself, which is better than my doing it because SOMETIMES I forget,
or the system was delayed.  In addition, you can now SEND email to me
via the list.  It does NOT automatically go out to subscribers. 
ChocoPaulnews still goes out once or twice a week on average.

However, if you wish to send information which I can post on the website,
this is now easy.  Just use reply or tokyoprogressive@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
and then I can make changes to the website, or prepare to include your
information in the NEXT newsletter.

The website itself looks a little different.  Have a look at
http://tokyoprogressive.org.   A summary of the changes will follow in
the next newsletter, due out sometime today or tomorrow.

Apologies for the sudden automated announcement, but I hope
the service will improve, making it easy to subscribe/unsubscribe
and contribute to the website/newsletter.


Regarding those annoying ads from topica, I am not sending ANY messages
via them, although I will continue to archive there for the time being.

I have asked them to remove the list from those which they burden with
ads, but they have not responded in a week's time. If you continue to
get ads from them, please let them/me know.  

Now, if everything is set right, you should see a list of mailing list
addresses/commands,which will be further clarified in the next
newsletter to follow in the next 24 hours or so.
