Unfortunately it's true. "In the President’s budget for Fiscal Year 2012, the National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) was slated for termination. The year-long continuing resolution for Fiscal Year 2011 just recently enacted by Congress accelerates the reductions in the President’s Fiscal Year 2012 budget by including a $3.8 million decrease for the NBII. As a result, USGS has already begun the termination of the NBII in Fiscal Year 2011 and will not provide any further funding to existing partnerships, including BAMONA. Regardless of the USGS support, my partner and I remain personally and passionately committed to the continuation of the BAMONA project through other avenues." ________________________________ From: Bart Jones <bjones7777@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: tn-butterflies@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, June 10, 2011 3:59 PM Subject: [TN-Butterflies] Budget cut axes BAMONA??? While perusing the TX-Butterflies listserve, I came across a post saying that the President's new budget proposal had eliminated NBII, and therefore BAMONA, funding. Maybe some of you with better connections to BAMONA could check on that. Bart Jones Memphis, Shelby County
