It's interesting that Variegated Fritillaries were the most abundant butterfly
species visiting their zinnias. While I do get a few on mine, I generally see a
lot more of them out and about on wildflowers, even when the zinnias are
covered with many other butterflies.

Just ran across this study this morning. It does not include the heirloom
zinnias, which I have also seen a lot of nectaring on, but it's interesting how
popular 'Lilliput' was with butterflies compared to the other zinnia cultivars.
