Doug,I think you have nailed it; the photos in Butterflies of the East Coast reveal a pattern of veins that is almost identical to the pattern of veins of your skipper, but as you say much more worn. I've had Lace-winged Roadside-Skipper in the yard a couple of times lately, and if the same individual was involved, it appeared more worn the second time I saw it than it was a week or so earlier.
