8/12/10 Checkered-Skipper sp. (photo) I really can't say this is early since I've seen them in spring before but usually the second round doesn't show here until middle October. I saw the first one at about 11:00 but I was working at the time so I braved the heat and went back out at around 2:00 and spotted 8 more. Not one of them ever landed with their wings open which seems odd to me. In the past 3 years I'd only seen one perch with its wings closed. All were feeding or laying eggs on this plant. Can anyone tell m what it is? http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p193/kjchilds/IMG_6315.jpg Laying eggs. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p193/kjchilds/IMG_6311-Edit.jpg Ken Childs Henderson, TN Chester County http://www.finishflagfarms.com
