I have found Carolina wren nests, often with mummified nestlings, in my peat
moss bag & bone meal bag which are on a shelf on my back porch along with other
potting supplies. It's a battle every year-I remove the nests as soon as I
find them but if they have eggs in them, I let nature take its course. What
really amazes me is how often they build nests in the potted plants which hang
a few feet from where my dogs sleep & hang out a lot. A friend near Ashland
City came home from vacation & found a dead rattler which had somehow gotten
caught in the chicken wire fence she had put around her flowers to keep her
dogs out. I've never had other birds at my hummer feeders-how fascinating to
hear about it! Thais Carr, Thompsons Station
