Robbie,
There is a good discussion of causes and possible treatments for nuisance
woodpeckers at the University of Nebraska web site,
http://wildlifemanagement.info/files/woodpeckers_7.pdf.

I have a friend who has a vacation home in Lake Taho----the siding is of
wooden shakes and the woodpeckers are pecking holes in it. She tacks metal
patches over the hole, but the next time she visits she finds more holes.
She is at a loss as to what to do. Has anyone else had this problem and if
so, what did you do to prevent it ?
Thanks,
Robbie Hassler
