[TN-Bird] Re: white red-tailed hawk off the hook

Is the albino Red-tailed Hawk known for certain to be a female ? Perhaps we
should not designate
this bird by sex either.

If this bird was seen breeding or was captured, weighed and/or measured
then we can accurately determine sex.

Otherwise, its relative size to the eye or even in comparison
to another nearby Red-tail is not enough evidence of its sex. Male/female
references to specific
individual birds on TN-Birds net should be limited to birds that can be
identified with a high degree
of certainty.

The same is not so important when we are designating the general breakdown
of
flocks of waterfowl, finches and such. But accuracy is always encouraged.
Please exercise
caution in all cases and learn whatever you can about how to identify
various species
to the sex of individuals.

Let's go birding.....
