[TN-Bird] while looking for Solitaire...

Hi folks,

I was one of the people who looked for the Townsend's Solitaire
yesterday at Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge. A brief glimspe of what
MAY have been the bird only served to tease. Unfortunately I am
flying to New Hampshire today, so I can't try again for this bird for
a week.

But in the hour I was there yesterday, I saw the following:

Northern Harriers: one gray, one brown.
Song, Swamp, White-throated, White-crowned, Field and Vesper
Sparrows, plus Eastern Towhee.
One Cooper's Hawk

One thing that often frustrates me about chasing rarities is that
they often seem to show up in a place where there is little else of
interest. Not so with Seven Islands. Thanks to the efforts of Dan
Mooney, Jim Giocomo and David Trently, the avifauna of this site has
been pretty well documented in the last few years. It is a
spectacular place. Much of it (unfortunately not the pond where the
bird was found) is also quite accessible for birders who are not as
physically able as others.

Get out and take a look!

And please post your sightings to TN Bird, as we're trying to compile
a list and determine first and last sightings for species.

Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Charlie
