[TN-Bird] unusual rodent

We have at least two squirrel or squirrel-like animals in a pasture near our
home.
Body color like Yellow-bellied Marmot, but white nose and ears instead of
shoulder patches
Look and act like large squirrels
Stay on the ground, in pasture grass. Once one climbed a tree, but they usually
leave by going up White Oak Mountain into the wooded area.

Best guess is escaped exotic pets; they are not far from houses,- but they
avoid the houses and seem more wary of us than would be expected of former pets.

If you have any suggestions, or know who we could contact for help or
information, please let me know.

Knowing that this is tn-BIRD we note these observations only as part of our
observation of nearby Crows, Bluebirds, House Finches, etc.
