[TN-Bird] turkeys

Robbie and TnBirders,
TWRA wild turkey biologist Randy Huskey gave the program at the December 
meeting of Nashville TOS. This was a very interesting presentation on the life 
history of the wild turkey, and it's re-introduction in Tennessee. I wish I 
could 
remember all the facts and statistics presented.


A couple of items I do remember: TWRA research is showing that as birds are 
becoming more plentiful the clutch size is going down;  the average clutch is 
12 eggs and the success rate is aprox. 25%; some of the excess birds in a 
particular county are being trapped and moved to states like Maine that are 
still 
building up their flocks.

There is probably more info at the TWRA web site. I'll see if Randy Huskey 
would respond and/or publish some of his data with TOS.
