Last Saturday, KTOS member David Johnson and I removed 5 bags of trash and
other items from Sharps Ridge Park in Knoxville. Non-Native Invasive (NNI)
plants were removed as well.

This is a favorite birding area that the Knoxville chapter adopted last
year, along with the City of Knoxville, as a litter free area. Hopefully,
this is the first of many "Adopt-A-Street" sites for Knoxville.

NNI removal, cleaning the graffiti from the "Smokies Peaks" sign and litter
pick up will continue. Another work day will be scheduled for early fall.

On a different note, two Wilson's snipe (may have been the same bird seen at
different times) were observed in the Turkey Creek watershed off Lexington
Drive on a construction site next to Coal Creek Armory. The bird was seen
along a newly created stream that is part of a mitigation/ stream
restorationsite where the development has culverted and relocated the
wetland/ creek. Apparently, the snipe found the newly created habitat
attractive!

Bird On!
