TN-Birders:
At Musick's Campground, South Holston Lake, in Sullivan Co., TN just before
dark today, the rainbands from the now tropical depression remains of Frances
were evident. The wind was at 30 to 35 mph from the east and clouds sweeping
in. We will get 4 inches or more overnight. The Blue Ridge and Appalachian
mountains are getting what the Weather Channel terms "upslope enhancement,"
coming in at a right angle from the Atlantic to hit the mountains.

Much migration of birds should likely be pinned down by the night time rains
and all-day heavy rains throughout Wednesday.

The strong winds blowing in from the upper counter clockwise rotation of
Frances could bring almost anything from the Atlantic area into anywhere in
East Tennessee.

Birders throughout East Tennessee and the Cumberlands should take advantage of
these conditions to check any available water areas as soon and as often after
daybreak and the passing of the heavy rains. We should continue to watch for
several days.

Be careful out there.

Let's go birding....
