[TN-Bird] scott and bledsoe county birding

Over the week-end I birded in Scott Co. on Sat. with
Jimi and Nell Moore; among 61 species noted were a Golden Eagle and a Snow
Bunting, both at the Huntsville Utility District reservoir; see this page of my
website for directions:
http://iweb.tntech.edu/sstedman/ScottTNPublicAccess.htm

I birded in Bledsoe County today with Winston Walden,
recording 56 species during 5.5 hours of birding.
At the Southeastern Tennessee State Regional Correctional Facility we found 180
Canada Geese, which were
accompanied by 6 blue phase Snow Geese, one Greater
White-fronted Goose, and 1 Ross's Goose. To get to this
site, take Rt. 30 west from Pikeville about 7-10 miles to
Rt. 101; take Rt. 101 north about 3 miles to Rt. 285;
take Rt. 285 west several miles; after passing Rt. 301,
go another half a mile or so to the entrance drive to the correctional facility
on the left. Check the ponds along
the entrance drive for the Canadas; then check them for
the smaller geese mixed in. Try to avoid this area
around 1:30-2:00 P.M. CST as this is the time of
a shift change for the guards, and traffic along the
entrance drive will be heavy then; at least it was today.
