[TN-Bird] Re: scopes 80mm vs 60mm ?

Tim, and TN-birders
It depends on what you want to do. 80 is always better, of course.
And extra weight, while inconvenient, can actually be a GOOD thing.
More weight = more stability in wind, or when others are walking on
the same boardwalk you're scoping from.
And in my opinion, with some models, the difference is more profound.
Especially the very lower end, because lots of light can make up a
bit for poorer quality of view.
In my opinion, a person who goes to the beach a lot will really
benefit from the bigger lens. A person who typically goes out in
clement weather, not much wind, and is looking at lakes instead of
the open ocean, would probably do well to get the smaller, lighter
scope.
But as Tracey said, try before you buy!
