[TN-Bird] robin and crow

Robins don't often come into my feeder area though I see them at the edge of
the yard at times. Today there was one that was behaving strangely. I was
out on the deck, a story up and several yards from a small concrete patio at
the rear of my house where I keep the birdbath. The robin hopped from the
patio and sat on the grass right next to my house and even closer to the
deck; it appeared to have only one leg, though I'm not sure. After observing
it for about 5 minutes, hoping it would move again so I could check out the
leg situation, I went inside for my camera, fully expecting it to be gone
when I returned after digging out my camera, changing lenses, etc. But it
was still there, hadn't moved. But before I could raise the camera to focus
it, a lone crow flew in, heading straight for the robin, which took off with
the crow in hot pursuit. I don't know the outcome of the chase as they flew
around the side of the house out of view. I can only hope the robin escaped.
However, from the way the robin had been behaving, it was probably not in
good health in any case.

This is the second time I've seen a crow go after a bird in that general
area. Last summer a crow swooped down near the birdbath and immediately took
off again. I thought it had seen me and got spooked. I hadn't seen it take
the bird, but that is what had happened as the crow flew to the edge of the
yard and proceeded to kill its prey in the tall grass. All I could see was
the crow and a fluttering of brown wings. Probably a finch or sparrow. It
took me a while to start liking the crows again after that.
