Hi folks,
The majority of Common Nighthawks seem to have come through Blount
County. For a couple weeks I was seeing many each night, including
several days with at least a couple hundred each over Alcoa and
Maryville.
Last night I saw my first nighthawk in 3 days, though. It was flying
over the Knoxville Fire Department traning facility near the
Knoxville Zoo. This lone bird was flying about as fast and direct as
I've seen one fly - and due south, no less. I swear I could hear it
yelling out something like "hey guys, wait for me!"
