I just saw this notice on the Univ of Tennessee website
last night and so missed the events entirely. Did anyone
go to any of the events? Was this known about and I was
just out of the loop? (entirely likely :-)

Fighting to Save Species on the Verge of Extinction
Author and conservation planner Phillip Hoose has won awards for his book
on the ivory-billed woodpecker, The Race to Save the Lord God Bird.
He will cap his visit to the University of Tennessee with a talk to the
community.

Informal discussion - Phillip Hoose has been a conservation planner
involved in national and international projects for 30 years. He will
discuss how to construct effective large-scale cooperative conservation
projects. For example, what might have happened in Louisiana with the
ivory-billed woodpecker if there had been a major land trust in the 1930s?
How did the Cuban effort to conserve the woodpecker differ from that in
the United States?
Target audience: Graduate and undergraduate students interested in careers
related to conservation, including students taking conservation courses
Fall Term 2006.
