[tn-bird] kyker bottoms, 10-19-02

Visited Kyker Bottoms briefly this morning, 8:15 to 9:45 to check out the 
sparrows. At the metal barn area there were SONGS (20), SAVANNAHS (12), SWAMPS 
(15), WHITETHROAT (1), and JUNCO (1). Additional birds included KESTREL, 
COOPER'S HAWK, LOGG SHRIKE (it stays along the hedgerow 100' west of the barn), 
BOBOLINK (1), BLUEBIRDS, CAROLINA WRENS, and MALLARDS.
On the west side at the paved parking lot I added more sparrows: FIELD (10), 
GRASSHOPPER (1), and WHITE-CROWNED (2ad, 2imm). They were mostly around the 
blackberries at the far end of the lot. The beauty of the whit-crowns never 
ceases to take my breath away!
Yesterday, I had a LINCOLN'S SPARROW at the UT Plant Science Farm at the end of 
the slough on the right across from the cove on the left--another beauty!
