Freedom of speech is such a wonderful thing isn't it? I was about to applaud
the recent rash of humor and hope it continued when this message appeared.
Not being an especially avid birder, I tend to skim over many of the reports,
but have been reading every word lately, often hooting enough to make the dog
explode from under my desk barking and all the cats scatter for safe cover.
And all the while getting indelibly educated on a number of points.
Carol, I happen to know that educating the masses is part of your job. The
fact that you are forever fascinated with critters, plants, life! of all
kinds and have the admirable talent of passing that passion along through
often painful but memorable belly laughs, is something I feel most fortunate
to have experienced personally and lately on here. As a creative observer
and sharer(?) of everyday miracles, I beg you to keep us entertained with
your forever unique and uplifting perspective. Mention a bird once in a
while to make it legit if you have to...
Birds are fun. Just ask Carol...

oh yeah, as for birds........i can attest to the sprinkler/bird attraction.
here at the nursery, with 3 sprinklers running 5-6 hours a day, we are
covered up with birds. very clean birds i might add. damn near underfoot
sometimes. felt kinda silly putting up a dripper in a bird bath i was given
as a gift, but it's hit too. a female common yellowthroat from the fiedl
across the road has been a regular there lately which i otherwise don't see
that often. i certainly don't recommend wasting water just to see some
birds, but it's a pretty neat bonus.
